  June Thornton-Marsh is a workshop leader, educator and licensed clinical social worker specializing in healing racism.  An activist, she brings a social justice perspective to her work.  Believing deeply that the personal is political and the spiritual is at the core of the personal, she  incorporates an understanding of the nature of oppression, emotional healing, interpersonal dialogue and group processing, in a spiritually grounded approach.  Whether addressing college students or writing about her hope for the healing of the planet, June is best known for delivering a compassionate and intuitive message. June has worked as a newspaper columnist for the Portland Press

Herald writing regularly on topics relevant to issues of multi-culturalism and diversity.  She has been employed as a multicultural counselor at Bates College, a diversitJune Thorton-Marshy trainer and multicultural counselor at Colby College  and as a Professor  at the University of New England in their MSW program. She develops seminars and workshops for corporations and organizations nationwide. She consults with corporations and institutions around issues of change management, stress management, human difference and diversity, managerial effectiveness training, violence in the work place, debriefing of critical incidents, sexual harassment, and productivity in the work place.

In addition, June consults with educational institutions to improve learning opportunities for educators and students, teaching academic and social empowerment strategies. She is frequently a guest speaker and lecturer for professional organizations, religious and civic groups, schools, political events, as well as sorority and fraternity affairs

In addition to June’s, she maintains a private practice in Waterville, Maine  called Interact Associates where she has over 20 years clinical experience working with children, adolescents and families. Her practice style is  strength based with a focus on the intuitive and spiritual. She has provided consultation to inpatient psychiatric settings, to adoption agencies and to community mental health systems.

June earned her  MSW and BSW degrees in social work from the University of Kansas.
